SPOTLIGHT: American Security Cabinets

American Security Cabinets, also referred to as “ASC”, was originally founded to manufacture payment boxes for apartment complexes and local businesses. Starting out with small rent boxes has evolved into a full complement of secure stainless steel and aluminum composite material cabinetry in thousands of locations across the United States, in Canada, and around the globe. Through it all, our overarching goal has remained the same– to provide customers with secure, customizable, safe, and compliant drop box solutions.

Recognizing the importance of properly disposing of worn, torn, and tattered flags, our team was inspired to create our line of Flag Retirement Drop Boxes, designed to provide a dignified and convenient way to collect flags for proper retirement. Our traditional exterior offering is built from 18-gauge heavy duty steel in either a powder coated or stainless-steel finish. Available in a variety of sizes to fit the needs of our customers, these cabinets come with two all-brass works registered locks with double-bitted keys, an anti-pry door jamb, and a restricted one-hand chute opening to eliminate unwanted materials or personnel from entering. Additionally, our hopper-style cabinets are also fitted with anti-theft construction measures such as a zero-access baffle and adjustable hopper door to block access or viewing of any items inside the cabinets. Our offerings are also ADA Title II and III compliant, ensuring accessibility and use at the designated height for all.

This year, we are excited to unveil our newest Flag Retirement offering. The Model 710-ACM is a first of its kind– a self-assembly drop box featuring a cost-efficient and sustainable design made from aluminum composite material. Expertly crafted for convenient self-assembly, this next generation drop box offers the same look and feel as our traditional offerings at a more affordable price.

Each American Security Cabinets product is made in the U.S.A. with high-quality, locally sourced materials. From our Kiosk Management System (KMS) technology and our limited lifetime warranty*, to convenient accessories like protector posts, anti-phishing teeth, lockable lift plates, and depressible floors, we’ve become a trusted leader in the drop box space. Grateful to have worked closely with various patriotic organizations to meet their specific needs, we have helped design hundreds of drop boxes to help inform and educate communities on proper retirement, as well as showcasing the wonderful organizations we work with and their brand standards, messaging, color palette, sponsors, and more. Customers can choose from numerous templates or design their own with help from our in-house graphic designers. Whether it's an Eagle Scout working on a project, a Girl Scout raising funds for her troop, cemeteries participating in memorials, or veterans' groups like VFWs, Legions, and DAVs streamlining flag collections, our organization remains passionate about understanding our customers and delivering results that look good and last a lifetime. We’ve even seen numerous celebrities pose in front of our boxes, including television writer David Wright, the late stand-up comedian/actor Bob Saget, and talk show host/comedian Conan O’Brien.

American Security Cabinets was honored to be selected for the prestigious task of designing and manufacturing the Flag Retirement Drop Box for the LT Michael P. Murphy Navy SEAL Museum in West Sayville, NY. Tailored specifically to the museum's preferences, the custom-made box exemplifies our commitment to craftsmanship and stands as a fitting tribute to LT Michael P. Murphy's legacy and service. Its unveiling during the museum's grand opening ceremony not only symbolizes respect for the fallen hero but also underscores our role in supporting institutions that honor and preserve the memories of our nation's brave servicemen and women. The Flag Retirement Drop Box still stands there today.

Murphy, born in Smithtown, NY, distinguished himself as a United States Navy SEAL officer, earning the nation's highest military honor, the Medal of Honor, for his heroic actions in Afghanistan. His valor marked a significant milestone as the first Navy member to receive this prestigious award since the Vietnam War. His other posthumous awards include the Silver Star Medal and the Purple Heart.
